About Song Farm

IMG_8493.jpg

Song Farm was founded in 2010 by Hilde Wahl and Jørn Dalchow who have been part of the Norwegian music industry for many years. The aim of Song Farm is to establish events and venues where Norwegian and international songwriters can meet, write new songs, build networks and get new knowledge.

Song Farm is now organised by Norwegian publishing companies daWorks Music Publishing and The Woods. Each year we invite professional nordic and international songwriters and artists to join us at the songwriting camp.

Life at Song Farm

Song Farm takes place at Saltögården on Saltö island in Sweden. Saltögården is composed of six houses and we will set up mini studios in five of them. There are sleeping arrangements at the farm for all songwriters and artists - most in shared rooms.

Over three days, 30 songwriters and ten artists will participate in songwriting teams focusing on contemporary hit songwriting with a unique Scandinavian twist; Pop, R&B, hip hop, and EDM. In total, ten teams will be announced at breakfast each morning. Artists who need songs for their upcoming recording projects will join the teams for co-writing (the artists have a first option to cut the songs). Songs will be presented each night at 10 pm. We always aim for 50/50 female/male participation.

Travel to and from the camp

Most participants fly to Oslo and join our shuttle to Song Farm. The shuttle leaves Oslo at 6 pm on Sunday. Departure from nearby the Oslo central station and the Airport Express Train. Everybody will arrive on Sunday night, and writing will take place Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Check-out is Thursday after breakfast, followed by a shuttle ride back to Oslo at noon, arriving in Oslo approx. 3 pm. The Airport Express Train takes 19 minutes from Oslo central station, so it should be easy to get a flight back Thursday late afternoon/early evening.
